2022 Nissan Qashqai Achieves more than three million sales in Europe. This is a major launch on the blue continent for Nissan. The third generation of the UK’s best-selling family SUV is undergoing a complete makeover. Starting with a fresh look exterior, greater practicality, in-car technology and a more efficient engine, including Nissan’s e-Power hybrid system.
2022 Nissan Qashqai Has More Spacious Cabin
The biggest change is the LED headlights that were first used in the Nissan Qashqai. This lamp is similar to the 2022 Nissan Rogue and is flanked by a typical Nissan V-Motion grille. The exterior of the body appears more muscular, in line with the increased length and width of this latest Qashqai. It looks cool with a floating roof effect and optional 20-inch alloy wheels, an inch larger than the second generation.
Larger dimensions make rear legroom more spacious. Meanwhile, the new Qashqai offers a greater storage capacity of 50 liters compared to the previous model. This was accomplished by lowering the cargo floor and revising the rear suspension.
Apart from a more spacious cabin, the interior is updated with a smoother surface. There is also a switchgear and a front seat with massage features. There are significant technological improvements, including a 12.3-inch instrument cluster, a 9.0-inch touchscreen head unit that’s compatible with Android Auto, and Apple CarPlay with wireless connectivity.
Offer a mild-hybrid version
Nissan only uses gasoline engines for this car. There is the option of a 1.3L turbocharged mild hybrid engine that produces a maximum output of 140 hp and 240 Nm of torque. The higher model has 158 hp of power and a maximum torque of 260 Nm. Both engines transmit power to the front wheels through a 6-speed manual transmission.
While the CVT transmission models have a front or all wheel drive system. The Xtronic-equipped Nissan Qashqai uses the 158hp version of the 1.3L engine, but with slightly more torque at 270Nm.
An additional electrified version offered on the new mild hybrid model is available in an e-Power configuration that gets an upgrade to the hybrid system installed on the Nissan Note in Japan.
Change from a 1.2L engine to a 1.5L capacity engine, to produce more power. This Qashqai hybrid offers 190 hp of power and 330 Nm of maximum torque. Like the Nissan Leaf, the Qashqai e-Power offers a single pedal operating system.
Nissan has yet to reveal how much this car will cost. The 2022 Nissan Qashqai will go on sale in the European market this year. Nissan will publish more complete details of the US version of the Qashqai specifications later.
